Week commencing 11th May

This week we will be working on measuring things with things.

Activity 1

I would like you to go and measure things around your house using other things. The things we use to measure other things with are called ‘units’.

Have a look at my examples.

Example 1

This book is about 2 felt tip pens long.

Example 2

The Ipad is about 4 satsumas long.

Example 3

To challenge yourself you could use smaller units to measure.

The Ipad is about 12 one pennies long.

Now have a go at the questions on the picture below.

Don't forget to do Numbots! Follow the link below.

Activity 2

Complete the measuring activity on the picture using the grey rectangles below. If you don’t have a printer make your own strips of paper with scrap paper, make sure they are all the same length.

Have fun and measure more things with the strips!

Activity 3

Complete the worksheets below.

If you don't have enough paper clips or 20p's you can use other measuring units.

Activity 4

Use two different units to measure the objects in the picture. If you don’t have paper clips or pencils you can use different units.

Do you think the answers will be the same or different?

Why do you think this?

Now complete the sheets below.
