Activity 1
This week we are going to ‘sound up’ and ‘blend' words.
Children are used to this in school and I have prepared a video teaching phonics so you can do it the same way:
Below you can find the sounds we are going to use; these are the cards I use in the class, but if you have your own phonics cards and you already use them with your child, continue with them. Alternatively, you may want to make your own cards with your child, so you both together can decide on the picture that will feature with each sound.
Most children will need support to blend, but don’t worry, blending is challenging, and your child will get there independently with time.
I am giving two choices for each activity: one with CV or VC words (like ‘up’ or ‘no’) and another with CVC words (like ‘cat’). C stands for consonant and V for vowel.
