Activity 1
This week our book of the week is The Enormous Turnip.
Read the below powerpoint through with your child.
Then read through again and ask the below questions also pointing at the words or sounds your child may be able to read. You can help them with blending too by saying c-a-t, d-o-g, m-a-n, o-l-d etc and letting them to blend these sounds into words.

Next read the story of The Enormous Turnip again using pictures from Activity 1 with your child and ask the following questions and discuss new vocabulary:
Then encourage your child to retell the story by themselves using the pictures.

Read the story again with your child and ask the following questions:
Next make your own story map. You can make different characters and change the plot. There is an example one below.
Activity 4
Read story of The Enormous Turnip again with your child and answer the following questions:
Next use your own story map to retell it.
Then do the following activity.
Activity 5
Due to the Bank Holiday Friday, this session will be used as Activity 1 on the week commencing 11th of May.
Can you retell the story of The Enormous Turnip using your story map.
Next draw your favourite part of the story and label it or write a caption.
Discuss what other vegetables soups do you eat at home.
Today I am making a beetroot soup which is quite popular in Poland where I am from.
